Clippopotamus is a family business in every sense of the word. Ryan and Alexandria Durrell run the company together: Ryan plays an actuarial analyst by day, and a web wizard and graphic guru by night while Alexandria put her business degree to work and turned a hobby into a fun business that would allow her to stay home with their daughter (now just over 2 years old).

Alexandria is just known as 'Mommy' to her original Clippo Cutie, Story (an excellent and willing model!). While on mat leave, Alexandria sought out a new creative outlet and started making hair clips for her hair-privileged daughter. With the help of her remarkably supportive friends and family (and a huge thank you to the women of the Hitched! community), Clippopotamus was born and went online for sales starting in February of 2008. Within just a few short weeks, Clippo products were being stocked in some of Canada's finest kids' stores and chains. When things started to get too busy to keep up, Vanessa DiCiacca was brought on board to help with production.

Clippo is now far more than just a hair clip company. They have got products for boys and girls... in addition to hair clips, they sell 7 other products (with more being added all the time!) and are stocked in almost 50 stores across the country.
I was thrilled when Alexandria sent both my little guys a few items for Review.

Emma has the funniest thin hair and her hair is really starting to grow. I know where I live it is pretty hard to just walk into any store and buy hair clips that will work for baby fine hair. This is why I love the internet and super crafty moms like Alexandia that have specialized in making hair clips and accessories for this little bunch of fashionistas like Emma :)

These 3/4" snap clips, fully covered with precocious patterns that are perfect for the peach fuzz. And just like big sis, she can choose plain clips or ones with the ever-so-teeniest bows you've ever seen.

Their original product! Tried, tested and put through the ringer (quite literally), Their Little Ones are sturdy, lightweight and adorable. These sweet little hair clips come with or without bows, your choice! They're 1 1/4"Â€Â� long, covered with ribbon around the entire clip, and specially lined inside so they absolutely, positively won't slip out. Emma has only enough for one of these clips but they are super strong for fine hair, and I love all the color and pattern choices. I Remember as a kid having my mittens attached with super long strings {lol} Today Moms have a much more stylish accessory to help prevent lost mittens.

I think this is a brilliant idea and these are perfect even for light weight mittens in the spring time. I know winter looks like its on its way out but it is still cold and I have found these most helpful from preventing Everett from losing his mitts. These have super strong clips and with many more winters to come , these are a must have to have in your home especially if you have young children.
