I was thrilled when Ilana from AppleCheeks™ sent Emma the Mini Test Trial Kit for us to Review and try out. This is a New Trial Test Kit from AppleCheeks™ and is the perfect foray for the beginner parent in the world of reusable cloth diapers. This also makes for a great Shower/Christmas gift!!

AppleCheeks™ covers feature a unique envelope design, similar to a pocket diaper, but with NO NEED TO UNSTUFF. "They are fully customizable and can be used as a diaper cover over our hemp or bamboo inserts, with boosters for added absorbency if so desired, and fleece liners to keep baby's skin dry and rash-free. Alternately, the handy, wide envelope opening allows you the option of placing your absorbency underneath the microfleece lining, wicking moisture away from baby's skin and keeping him feeling nice and dry while still absorbing to the max! So many options in one diapering system! The absorbent inserts come right out in the wash!"
This wonderful diaper consists of an outer layer of breathable, waterproof polyurethane laminated polyester (PUL), sewn to a soft microfleece inner layer. Snug, elastic at both the waist and legs for a gentle and secure fit. This is a feature I really like about AppleCheeks™. It is the only diaper I have with an elastic in the front, this makes for a super trim fit with no chance of leaking out the front. The two rows of easy-to-adjust snaps, allow for a proper fit at the legs and the waist. I do notice that Emma fit the second last notch on the Size 2 so I do know that I will be looking into getting the ready available side/waist extenders that come in all colors, a handy feature that I will be looking into then the time comes. Who knows she may never need to go to that size. 
A handy envelope opening, wide enough for daddy’s hands, allows for the option of placing the absorbent inner between the fleece and the waterproof outer layer if so desired. This is a wonderful option and the envelope opening in the middle makes this easy to handle when soiled. I used the Test Kit both ways with the liner on top and with the liner stuffed and I have to say both work very very well. {Major mess , you may need to wash the liner, use your judgment of course}Simply just laying the Hemp pre-fold in the diaper was absorbent enough for a nights sleep for Emma and NO leaking what so ever. The more you wash your liners the more absorbent they are.
I was sent the One size -2 layer Hemp insert with my Test Kit. It is soft and absorbent and makes for an easy pre-fold to use. The two layers of VERY thirsty 55% hemp/45% cotton french terry give you absorbency that can't be beat! Fold this approximately 12" x 15" insert into thirds and you get six layers in the soaker zone. Washes and drys very well this is a perfect diaper system. Hemp is so much lighter then ordinary cotton, and I can tell when Emma is wearing her AppleCheeks™. They are trim and fit very well. Hemp is perfect for the heaviest wetter as it retains twice as much moisture as cotton alone for its weight! And plus hemp's antimicrobial properties make it the healthy choice for your baby's bottom. Dear Hubby was amazed at the absorbency of AppleCheeks™. A whole nights sleep, no leaks and no bare bum in the morning. The Snaps make this a wonderful cloth diaper choice for parents of toddlers with busy fingers.
AppleCheeks™ inserts come in Bamboo and Hemp, One Size, in Two layers or Three and they also carry Boosters in both Hemp and Bamboo for extra absorbency.
