Ecosandals mission statement:
Ecosandal designs, produce and sell environmentally friendly footwear for global sale. As each man knows is owned and operated in a Nairobi, Kenya shantytown, every pair sold enables some of the poorest residence on earth to work hard, think creatively and earn a decent wage.

Ecosandals.com is a nonprofit importer and seller of products produced by Akala Designs Ltd. a cooperative business based in Nairobi, Kenya. The Wikyo Akala Projest started in 1995 by Matthew Meyers . An American and a Kenyon established a community owned project attempting to address the dire poverty faced by the residence of Korogocho, one of the worst shanty town slums. Korogocho is known as rough, jobs are scarce and violence is rampant. Quality health care is nonexistent, even shelters tend to be poor and temporary. It is a place where even Kenyans fear to walk even during the daytime. This astonishing international e-business family employs nearly 30 Kenyans in the designing ,manufacturing ,marketing and selling of really great sandals made with recycled tire track. Ecosandals train Korogocho a rea youth , without regard to race, ethnicity or gender.
EcoSandals is an environmentally sensitive company that is changing the world one step at a time and that is change you can walk in.
EcoSandals is generously giving one Organic girl entrant a pair of their unique Kogelo Obama Sandals choice of size. When President Obama was elected , the artisans in Korogocho designed a piece of footwear that commemorates Kenya, the homeland of Obama's father. This model is stylish and produced from used rubber and denim. The Artisans have written "Yes we Can" on one in english and on the other in Swahili.
